Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, September 2025 – Alinta Energy has appointed Rob Hays as its new Head of Reward & Operations. In this role, Rob will oversee the design, implementation, and governance of comprehensive total reward strategies that align with the company’s goals and values, ensuring programs are compliant, competitive, and equitable to attract, retain, and motivate top talent.
Rob most recently served as Senior Performance and Rewards Specialist at Sportsbet, where over nearly three years he managed the company’s performance and rewards agenda through multiple annual cycles. His responsibilities included leading the benefits strategy, defining variable reward structures, driving job architecture, workforce planning, and overseeing mobility, people analytics, and HR systems improvements. He also worked closely with Finance on budget-setting for reward and benefit-related costs.
Prior to Sportsbet, Rob was a Manager at EY, where he led large-scale projects for ASX-listed and government-supported organizations. A highlight of his tenure was a long-term secondment at a major bank, where he led a multidisciplinary team in developing a capability-led job architecture for more than 50,000 employees as part of a major HRIS transition.
Before EY, Rob spent over four years at KPMG Australia, rising to the role of Manager in the Leadership, Performance, and Rewards team. He advised boards and executives across industries on executive and director remuneration strategy, workforce performance, and analytics, while also mentoring junior team members and developing new revenue streams.
Rob began his career in remuneration analytics at 3 Degrees Consulting before gaining early professional experiences as a Law Clerk at Victoria Legal Aid, Junior Analyst Intern at Wilson Asset Management, and Front of House Manager at Peter Rowland Group. These diverse early roles shaped his ability to adapt, manage stakeholders, and deliver value across varied industries.
