Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, October 2025 — Sunayana Mahansaria has been appointed as Head of Life and Health Reinsurance India at Swiss Re, bringing over 18 years of extensive experience across actuarial, client markets, and strategic leadership roles. In her new position, she will lead Swiss Re’s life and health reinsurance business in India, driving innovation, client engagement, and sustainable growth in one of the company’s key emerging markets.
Sunayana has been with Swiss Re for nearly five years, most recently serving as Head of Life & Health Client Markets India, where she successfully strengthened client relationships, expanded the firm’s reinsurance presence, and championed customer-centric solutions tailored to India’s evolving life and health insurance landscape.
Before joining Swiss Re, she spent almost a decade with Munich Re, where she held multiple leadership roles including Chief Marketing Actuary. During her tenure, she was recognized as a high-potential leader and selected for fast-track development programs, underscoring her ability to drive strategic outcomes and deliver measurable impact.
Earlier in her career, Sunayana worked with Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong as an Analyst, and with ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited as an Actuarial Manager, gaining valuable exposure to financial modeling, risk assessment, and life insurance product development. Her deep technical expertise combined with strong business acumen positions her to lead Swiss Re’s next phase of growth in India’s reinsurance market.
Sunayana holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (Finance) from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, where she was ranked 12th in her class and was an active member of the Finance Club. She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of India.
