Colombo, Western Province, Sri Lanka, October 2025 — Kalana Kumarasinghe has been appointed as Chief Information Officer at Nations Trust Bank PLC, marking an important milestone in his two-decade-long journey with the bank. In this strategic leadership role, Kalana will oversee the bank’s technology vision, innovation agenda, and digital transformation initiatives, further strengthening Nations Trust Bank’s position as a leader in digital banking across Sri Lanka.
With over 20 years of experience in information technology, digital enablement, and enterprise transformation, Kalana has been a driving force behind the bank’s digital evolution. Prior to this appointment, he served as Deputy Chief Information Officer, where he led the IT department, established strong governance frameworks, ensured cybersecurity resilience, and managed critical infrastructure operations with an exceptional 99.9% system uptime. His leadership in policy implementation, regulatory compliance, and disaster recovery preparedness was instrumental in achieving operational excellence.
Previously, as Vice President – Digital Enablement & Software Development, Kalana spearheaded several key technology initiatives including the Nations Direct Mobile App, FriMi Mobile Wallet, and the Nations Direct Internet Banking platform. He also established data governance strategies and implemented business automation solutions using IBM Filenet, significantly improving efficiency and customer experience.
Kalana’s early experience as a Junior Software Engineer at Creative Software provided him with a strong foundation in software development, delivering web-based solutions for both local and international clients. His career reflects a deep commitment to innovation, strategic execution, and building future-ready digital ecosystems within the banking sector.
