Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, January 2026 — Kavitha Gopalan has been appointed as Head of Talent Management, Group HR at Hong Leong Group. In her new role, she will be responsible for shaping and driving the group-wide talent management strategy, with a focus on leadership development, succession planning, and building future-ready capabilities across the organisation’s diverse businesses.
Kavitha brings over two decades of experience across talent management, learning and development, and organisational culture. Prior to rejoining Hong Leong Group, she spent more than ten years at Zurich Insurance, where she most recently served as Head of Talent Development and Culture. In this role, she led enterprise-wide initiatives across leadership development, culture transformation, learning strategy, and employee capability building in Malaysia.
Earlier at Zurich Insurance, Kavitha held progressive leadership roles including Executive Manager, Talent, Learning and Development, and Manager, Talent / Learning and Development, where she was instrumental in strengthening learning frameworks, embedding emotional intelligence capabilities, and advancing negotiation and leadership skills across the organisation.
Before her tenure at Zurich, Kavitha was associated with Monash University as Assistant Manager, Training and Staff Development, where she focused on professional development, staff capability building, and institutional learning programmes. She began her earlier corporate journey with Hong Leong Group as a Senior Executive, giving her a strong understanding of the group’s culture and long-term business philosophy.
With her deep expertise in talent development, organisational culture, and leadership capability building, Kavitha’s appointment is expected to further strengthen Hong Leong Group’s people strategy and long-term talent pipeline.
