Asia Pacific, February 2026 – Shailesh Kumar has started a new position as Commercial Lead – Asia Pacific (Ex-China) at dsm-firmenich Biomedical. In this expanded regional mandate, he will drive growth and strategic partnerships across APAC, collaborating with MedTech device companies to address critical unmet clinical needs through advanced biomaterials and next-generation healthcare solutions.
In his new role, Shailesh will focus on accelerating innovation in medical devices, regenerative medicine, and cell & gene therapy, leveraging dsm-firmenich’s high-performance, biocompatible biomaterials portfolio to enable meaningful patient outcomes across the region.
Before taking on this broader Asia Pacific responsibility, Shailesh Kumar served as Country Lead – India & Southeast Asia at dsm-firmenich, where he managed full P&L responsibilities, drove sustainable growth strategies, and led business development across India and Southeast Asia. He strengthened market access, expanded stakeholder partnerships, and grew the DSM Biomaterials portfolio across key segments including UHMWPE, polyurethane, collagen, extracellular matrix, and bioceramics.
Prior to rejoining dsm-firmenich, he was Director – Global Sales & Business Development at Biomoneta, where he spearheaded global expansion initiatives, established distribution networks, and led commercialization strategies across healthcare, pharmaceutical, and diagnostic markets.
Earlier, during his long tenure at Creganna Medical and TE Medical, he held multiple global leadership roles including Global Product Management – Medical BU, Business Leader – TE Medical (India Subregion, Middle East & Mauritius), and Senior Manager – TE Interventional. He managed global P&L responsibilities, built multimillion-dollar medical device businesses, drove strategic roadmap development, and supported growth initiatives including capacity expansion and M&A evaluation.
His earlier leadership journey includes senior commercial roles at Thermo Fisher Scientific, Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics, and Merck Millipore, where he led large strategic accounts, built nationwide distribution networks, and drove consistent double-digit growth across biopharma, medical, and life sciences segments. He began his professional career in biotech research and engineering roles, including positions at International Panaacea Ltd., IIT Delhi, and IIT Kanpur. Shailesh holds a Bachelor of Technology in Biochemical Engineering from Harcourt Butler Technical University and a PG Diploma in Bioinformatics & Applied Biotechnology from IBAB.
