Hunter Valley, April 2024 – Komatsu Mining is pleased to announce the promotion of Chris Walsh to Director of Human Resources – Australia. With over a decade of experience in HR management within the industry, Walsh is set to enhance Komatsu’s workforce development and strategic HR initiatives across Australia.
Previously, Walsh served as the National Manager of Performance & Partnering at Komatsu Mining since January 2022, where he led a team of HR business partners and managed significant HR functions such as industrial relations, employee engagement, and organizational development across multiple states and sites.
Before joining Komatsu, Walsh was the General Manager of Human Resources, Safety and Environment at Molycop, where from June 2019 to January 2022, he supported strategic and operational business objectives across Australasia, including Australia and Indonesia. His role involved partnering with leadership teams, managing HR initiatives, and deploying robust safety and environmental strategies.
Walsh’s experience also includes a pivotal role as Senior Human Resources Manager at Komatsu Mining from February 2016 to June 2019, where he was integral in managing HR functions following the acquisition of Joy Global by Komatsu in April 2017.
His earlier tenure at ConvaTech as National Human Resources & HSE Manager spanned over a decade, highlighting his extensive background in managing comprehensive HR and health, safety, and environment functions across multiple Australian states.
