Before Flipkart, Dr. Shashi Kant was Manager at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, where he was part of the negotiating team for the 2018–2021 long-term wage settlement, managed management-union communication forums, conducted industrial relations training programmes, administered employee welfare initiatives, and received the Employee of the Quarter Award along with recognition as a finalist for Best Employee of the Year.

He began his HR leadership career at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), serving for nearly seven years as Senior Executive (HR). At BHEL, he managed HR business partnering, disciplinary proceedings, industrial relations, contract labour management, labour court matters, union negotiations, and government liaison activities while also serving as a faculty member at the organization’s training centre.

Alongside his corporate career, Dr. Shashi Kant also served as a Member of the Board of Advisors – Cluster Consultative Committee at UPES, contributing to curriculum development and academic guidance.
