Houston, Texas, United States, June 2026 — Alyssa Rubin has started a new position as Vice President, Head of People Growth & Leadership Succession at NRG Energy, marking a significant transition from business operations leadership to a strategic people leadership role within the organization.
In her new position, Alyssa will lead initiatives focused on leadership development, succession planning, talent growth, and organizational capability building, supporting NRG Energy’s commitment to developing future leaders and strengthening its workforce for long-term success.
Prior to this appointment, Alyssa spent more than five years with NRG Energy, holding several leadership positions including Chair of the NRG Business Talent Committee, Senior Director, Regional Natural Gas Operations, and Director, Regional Natural Gas Operations. During her tenure, she led regional operations, talent initiatives, operational excellence programs, and strategic business transformation efforts while helping build leadership pipelines across the organization.
Before joining NRG Energy, Alyssa spent more than seven years with Direct Energy Business, where she served as Director, Regional Natural Gas Operations and Head of Marketing Programs. She was also actively involved in advancing diversity and inclusion initiatives as North American Co-Chair of the Women in Energy Employee Network at Direct Energy.
Earlier in her career, Alyssa spent nearly eleven years with Hess Corporation, progressing through several senior leadership roles including Director of Marketing, Director of Portfolio Optimization, Director of Process Excellence, Manager, Natural Gas Operations, and Regulatory Affairs Director. During this period, she led enterprise-wide growth initiatives, established process excellence programs, implemented data-driven business strategies, and oversaw regulatory and operational functions across the energy business.
Prior to her corporate leadership roles, Alyssa served as Executive Director of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, where she directed major policy initiatives and utility restructuring programs. She also worked as a Policy Advisor in the New Jersey Office of the Governor, contributing to public policy and regulatory affairs initiatives. Earlier in her career, she held business development responsibilities with LexisNexis.
With extensive experience spanning operations, marketing, talent development, leadership strategy, regulatory affairs, and organizational transformation, Alyssa brings a unique combination of business and people leadership expertise to her new role at NRG Energy.
