Saudi Arabia has made a significant move in the tech and manufacturing sector by appointing Amit Midha, a former Dell Technologies executive, as the Global CEO of its new Public Investment Fund company, Alat.
This industrial electronics firm, backed by a hefty $100 billion capital, is poised to become a local manufacturing powerhouse under Midha’s leadership. The ambitious vision for Alat includes creating 39,000 direct jobs and contributing $9.3 billion to Saudi Arabia’s GDP by 2030.
Alat will officially commence operations on February 20, focusing on over 30 product categories, including robotics, computing, digital entertainment, and advanced heavy machinery. The firm also emphasizes sustainability, aiming to collaborate with global companies towards achieving zero-carbon manufacturing.
Midha said Alat’s “mandate is to transform the global electronics and advanced industrials industries by creating a sustainable manufacturing hub leveraging the Kingdom’s solar, wind and green hydrogen clean energy.”
Amit Midha, an industrial engineering graduate from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya in Indore, embarked on his career at Dell in 1995, ascending through various roles in leadership across sales, marketing, and corporate strategy, with a focus on the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Japan, and Greater China. He also led Dell’s Global Emerging Markets and Global Public Business Council. Before his tenure at Dell, Midha contributed his skills to Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company in Mumbai.
Amit Midha earned his Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Missouri, Columbia. He received a first-class Honors degree in Engineering from SGS Institute of Technology & Science, Indore. Beyond his academic and professional achievements, Midha is passionate about travel, food, and wine. He is involved with the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, an international gastronomy association. He is a Knight of the Ordine dei Cavalieri del Tartufo e dei Vini di Alba, which focuses on preserving the culinary and viticultural heritage of Alba and the Langhe region in Italy.
