London, United Kingdom, October 2024 – Amy Cook has been appointed as the new Head of People and Culture at the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS). In this role, Amy will lead the development and implementation of people and culture strategies aimed at fostering a supportive and high-performing environment for the research and clinical teams at LMS. She will work closely with leadership to ensure that the organization continues to attract, develop, and retain top talent in the field of biomedical research.

Amy has a deep background in human resources, with significant experience in academic and research institutions. Prior to her current role, she served as Deputy Head of Human Resources at the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences for nearly two years. During her tenure, she played a key role in overseeing HR operations, contributing to the institute’s mission of advancing biomedical research.

Before joining LMS, Amy worked at the University of Cambridge for almost six years as an HR Manager. There, she led the HR function in the Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit (CBU), supporting a department of 130 people within the School of Clinical Medicine, the largest school at the University. Her leadership in HR operations contributed to improving workplace culture and employee engagement.

Earlier in her career, Amy was a People Advisor at Tesco in Welwyn Garden City, where she supported HR functions in a fast-paced retail environment, gaining valuable experience in managing diverse teams and HR processes.
