Andie Cobley Appointed as Group Chief People & Culture Officer at GSB

London, May 2024 – Andie Cobley has been appointed as the Group Chief People & Culture Officer at GSB. She will lead the company’s people and culture strategy, focusing on nurturing employee engagement and talent development while supporting GSB’s vision of co-creating prosperity for all stakeholders.

Cobley brings over 15 years of HR experience to her new role. Most recently, she served as Head of Co-worker Experience/Head of HR UK at Ikano Bank for over four years. In this role, she was responsible for leading the UK HR strategy and coworker experience, developing employee engagement initiatives, and ensuring alignment between HR operations and the bank’s strategic goals.

Before her time at Ikano Bank, Cobley was the Regional HR Manager (Middle East) at Stephenson Harwood LLP from July 2018 to January 2020. She oversaw all HR operations for the Middle East region, including recruitment, employee relations, and performance management. Prior to that, she held the role of HR Business Partner (Middle East) at Zurich Insurance from May 2016 to April 2018. Here, she managed the HR functions across the region, supporting organizational restructuring, talent management, and HR transformation projects.

Earlier in her career, Cobley served as the HR Manager at The Harpur Trust from April 2012 to April 2015. She provided comprehensive HR support across various departments, including employee relations, recruitment, and training. She also contributed significantly to enhancing performance management systems and rolling out a management skills training program.

Her journey also includes significant roles such as Performance Partner at Alere International, where she managed day-to-day HR functions, facilitated management training, and led health and wellness initiatives. She began her career in investigations, training, and support management roles at GTCS, Wiltshire Police Constabulary, and the Royal Navy.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
