Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; Cairo, Egypt; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, April 2026 — Azza Abdelbari has taken on the role of Group Head of Risk and Compliance at Thndr, marking a significant step in her distinguished career in regulatory leadership and financial compliance.
In her new role, Azza will lead risk and compliance strategy across Thndr’s multi-market operations, ensuring robust governance frameworks as the digital investment platform continues to scale across the Middle East. Her appointment comes at a time when fintech organizations are navigating increasingly complex regulatory environments while driving innovation and financial inclusion.
Prior to joining Thndr, Azza served as a Senior Compliance Consultant (Freelance), where she advised organizations on regulatory strategy, licensing, compliance frameworks, and market entry within the UAE’s financial free zones. Her work included supporting firms in navigating complex regulatory requirements and preparing for regulatory inspections.
Earlier, she held the role of Head of Risk and Compliance at Aspen Next Limited, where she led compliance initiatives and risk management frameworks, strengthening governance structures in a fast-evolving financial environment.
Azza also spent over five years with Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) as Senior Manager – Market Infrastructure and Products, where she played a key role in shaping regulatory frameworks and overseeing market infrastructure initiatives within one of the region’s leading international financial centres.
Her earlier leadership experience includes serving as Director, Central Compliance Group at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, where she managed compliance operations in a complex banking environment, and as Senior Manager, Markets Division at Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), contributing to regulatory oversight and market supervision.
She began her career with roles at NASDAQ Dubai, Essdar Capital, and Dubai Mercantile Exchange, building deep expertise in compliance, market regulation, and financial governance across global financial markets.
