Balaji Nuthalapadi appointed as Executive Director – Technology and Operations at Equitas Small Finance Bank

Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, April 2025 — Balaji Nuthalapadi has joined Equitas Small Finance Bank as Executive Director – Technology and Operations, bringing with him decades of leadership experience across global financial institutions. His appointment is a strategic move aligned with the bank’s focus on enhancing its digital capabilities and strengthening operational excellence to serve its growing customer base.

Prior to joining Equitas, Balaji served as Managing Director & Head of Centralized Controls Testing Execution at Citi, where he led the formation of one of the largest global controls testing teams in the industry. He also held the position of Managing Director and Head of Operations and Technology for Citi South Asia, where he successfully managed large-scale operations across India and Southeast Asia, driving efficiency and compliance across regions.

Over a distinguished 28-year tenure at Citi, Balaji held several key roles including Head of Citi Solutions Centres, Head of Consumer Core Operations, and leadership positions across India, the UK, Singapore, and the Philippines. His responsibilities spanned a wide range of critical functions including product management, risk governance, operations strategy, and digital enablement. His deep understanding of banking technology and global delivery frameworks has made him a respected figure in the financial services industry.
