New York, June 2024 – Ben Seymour has joined The State University of New York (SUNY) as the new Director of Human Resources. In this role, Ben will lead the HR initiatives to support SUNY’s strategic goals and enhance the overall employee experience across the university system.
Ben’s most recent role was at Lansingburgh Central School, where he served as the Human Resources Manager for over three years. In this capacity, Ben managed HR functions for a P-12 public school district with 450 full-time employees. He centralized HR functions into a unified department, oversaw employee relations, performance management, and program effectiveness, and led investigations into employee misconduct. He also developed a collaborative governance model for labor relations.
Prior to Lansingburgh Central School, Ben worked at the New York State Division of the Budget as a Budget Examiner for three years. He managed issues related to New York’s public workforce, provided policy expertise, developed reports and analyses, and represented the Division during collective bargaining. Ben’s role also involved analyzing the fiscal impact of workforce issues and advising senior leadership on state labor initiatives.
Before joining the Division of the Budget, Ben spent a year at Capital Region BOCES as a Labor Relations Specialist. He provided expert advice on collective bargaining, employee management, and labor-management relationships. Ben evaluated and presented proposed contractual changes, conducted investigations into employee misconduct, and consulted on human resources matters for member school districts.
