Denver, Colorado, United States, December 2024 – Carol MacKinlay has been appointed as the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Velocity Global, where she will lead strategic HR initiatives to scale operations, enhance workforce engagement, and support the company’s global expansion. With her extensive experience in global HR leadership, compensation strategy, and organizational growth, Carol is set to contribute significantly to Velocity Global’s mission of enabling businesses to seamlessly hire and manage talent worldwide.

Before joining Velocity Global, Carol served as Chief People Officer at Binance.US, where she led the People team from scratch, scaling it to 30 members and growing the company’s workforce to over 800 employees across 15+ locations. She was instrumental in organizational restructuring, board-level corporate governance, and IPO readiness during her tenure.

Carol was also the Chief People Officer at UserTesting, playing a pivotal role in its successful IPO in 2021. She led a 40-member team overseeing talent, workplace operations, and diversity initiatives, achieving recognition as a “Best Place to Work” by multiple organizations.

Earlier, Carol held leadership roles at Matterport and Xero, where she contributed to rapid organizational growth, HR strategy development, and workplace transformation. Notably, at Plantronics, she grew the company from a failed LBO to a $400M public enterprise, doubling its headcount and increasing stock value significantly.

Carol’s expertise spans over three decades, including roles in consulting and executive leadership at organizations like Borland Software, Jawbone, and KPMG.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
