Wisconsin, United States, June 2026 — Tamarack Health has announced the appointment of Chris Rutter as Vice President, Human Resources (CHRO). In his new role, he will oversee Human Resources, Employee Health, Organizational Development & Leadership, Clinical Education, and Pastoral Care, supporting Tamarack Health’s mission of delivering exceptional care and advancing organizational excellence across the health system.
Rutter joins Tamarack Health from National Veterinary Associates (NVA), where he served as Vice President, People & Team Member Relations. In this role, he provided strategic leadership across people operations, employee relations, engagement, and workforce initiatives for a geographically distributed organization.
Prior to NVA, he served as Global Human Resources and Inclusion & Diversity Lead at Covetrus, where he partnered with senior leaders across consumer, e-commerce, product, technology, and equine businesses. During his tenure, he led major initiatives in onboarding, mentoring, succession planning, talent reviews, employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, and organizational development.
Earlier, Rutter served as Chief Human Resources Officer and System Diversity & Inclusion Lead at Mount Carmel Health System, providing executive leadership for human resources, talent management, employee education, diversity and inclusion, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness across a multi-facility healthcare network employing approximately 3,000 colleagues.
Prior to that, he held Vice President Human Resources leadership roles with ContactUS Communications and Uptivity Inc., where he built and transformed HR functions, led talent acquisition and engagement strategies, supported acquisitions and integrations, and helped establish high-performance workplace cultures. Earlier in his career, he spent more than six years with McGraw Hill in senior HR leadership roles supporting talent acquisition, employee relations, workforce planning, leadership development, and diversity initiatives.
With nearly two decades of leadership experience spanning healthcare, technology, business services, and veterinary sectors, Rutter brings extensive expertise in human resources strategy, organizational effectiveness, talent management, employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, workforce planning, and executive leadership. His appointment is expected to strengthen Tamarack Health’s people and culture strategy while supporting the organization’s commitment to delivering outstanding patient care and employee experiences.
