Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, August 2026 — Cipla has elevated Vinay Bassi to the role of Chief HR Operations, recognizing his outstanding leadership in driving HR technology, operational excellence, and people transformation across the organization.
In his new role, Bassi will lead Cipla’s global HR operations agenda, overseeing people processes, HR technology, operational governance, and workforce transformation initiatives that support the company’s continued growth and commitment to delivering exceptional employee experiences.
With nearly four decades of experience in human resources, industrial relations, talent management, organizational transformation, and HR operations, Bassi has built a distinguished career across the pharmaceutical, FMCG, manufacturing, and consumer goods sectors. Since joining Cipla in 2020 as Vice President & Head – HR Tech and Operations, he has played a pivotal role in modernizing HR systems and strengthening operational capabilities. In 2023, he was elevated to Senior Vice President & Head – HR Tech and Operations, where he continued to drive digital HR transformation, process excellence, and people operations before taking on his latest leadership mandate as Chief HR Operations.
Prior to joining Cipla, Bassi served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Arvind Ltd., where he led the HR and industrial relations agenda across diverse businesses spanning textiles, garments, advanced materials, engineering, water treatment, and real estate operations across India and Africa. Earlier, he held the position of Group Employee Relations Head at Arvind Ltd.
Before that, Bassi served as Director – Human Resources (CHRO) at Perfetti Van Melle, where he led the HR function for a complex business with multiple manufacturing facilities and was a member of the company’s Global HR Leadership Team, contributing to HR strategy across the South East Asia, Middle East, and Africa (SAMEA) region. His earlier leadership journey also includes serving as Chief Human Resources Officer at Onicra, HR Director (CHRO) at Goodyear, and multiple senior HR leadership roles at PepsiCo (Frito-Lay Division), where he led HR across sales, manufacturing, talent acquisition, compensation & benefits, and organizational capability building. He began his HR career with Ranbaxy Laboratories, followed by Escorts Ltd. and PUNWIRE, building a strong foundation in industrial relations and people management.
Bassi holds an MBA in Human Resources from Punjabi University and is widely recognized for his expertise in HR transformation, industrial relations, leadership development, employee engagement, and organizational capability building.
