London, England, United Kingdom, July 2025 – Coutts & Co has announced the appointment of Dame Anne Richards as Chair, marking a significant leadership transition for the iconic private banking and wealth management firm. With a distinguished global career spanning investment management, financial governance, and institutional leadership, Dame Anne is expected to play a pivotal role in guiding the company’s next phase of strategic growth and client-centric excellence.
Dame Anne currently serves as Chair of TheCityUK Leadership Council, having been part of TheCityUK for over three years. Her extensive board experience includes roles on the European Advisory Panel of Temasek, Board of Trustees of the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering, and membership on the Board of Directors of the Institute of International Finance. She is also Vice Chair of Fidelity International, having earlier served as its Chief Executive Officer for over five years.
Prior to Fidelity, Dame Anne held the position of Chief Executive at M&G Investments, where she also served on the board of Prudential plc. Her earlier leadership roles include Global Chief Investment Officer at Aberdeen Asset Management, Director roles at esure, The Investor Forum, and Duchy of Lancaster, and Trustee responsibilities at the University of Edinburgh, CERN & Society Foundation, and EveryChild.
Dame Anne began her career as an Engineer at Cambridge Consultants and Research Fellow at CERN, later moving into asset management with firms such as J.P. Morgan Investment Management, Mercury Asset Management, and Edinburgh Fund Managers, where she held various senior positions. She holds a BSc in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh and an MBA from INSEAD.
