Redmond, Washington, United States, April 2026 – Justin Thenutai has taken on a new role as Vice President, Workforce Acceleration at Microsoft, where he will focus on building a “ready-now and future-ready” workforce to support the company’s growth in the evolving AI landscape. In this role, he will drive initiatives around workforce skilling, talent deployment, human-agent collaboration, and workforce maximization—critical pillars as organizations navigate the AI frontier.
Prior to this appointment, Justin Thenutai served as Vice President, Human Resources – CoreAI at Microsoft, where he played a pivotal role in aligning HR strategies with Microsoft’s AI-driven business transformation.
Earlier, he was Chief People Officer at GitHub, where he led global people strategy across culture, talent, total rewards, learning and development, and diversity, inclusion, and belonging for one of the world’s leading AI developer platforms.
Before his tenure at GitHub, he spent over 16 years at Microsoft, holding multiple leadership roles including General Manager, Human Resources, where he supported key business units such as Windows, Devices, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and emerging technologies like Mixed Reality and AI platforms. He also led Global Talent Acquisition Excellence, driving large-scale transformation in recruiting strategy, systems, and global talent operations.
Earlier in his career, he worked with McDermott & Bull as Director of Executive Recruiting, where he led executive hiring for Fortune 500 companies and high-growth startups, building deep expertise in leadership hiring and talent strategy.
