Kansas City, Missouri, United States, July 2026 — H&R Block has elevated Charlene Wilson to the role of Chief People & Culture Officer, effective July 2026. In her new position, she will lead the company’s enterprise-wide People & Culture function, partnering closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to align talent, leadership, and organizational strategy with H&R Block’s long-term business transformation and growth ambitions.
As Chief People & Culture Officer, Charlene will oversee enterprise workforce strategy, organizational design, succession planning, leadership development, talent acquisition, learning and development, total rewards, and people operations. She will also spearhead strategic initiatives focused on workforce modernization, AI enablement, and the evolution of H&R Block’s operating model, helping build a high-performing, future-ready organization.
Charlene has been with H&R Block for more than 15 years, demonstrating an exceptional progression across legal and human resources leadership roles. Prior to her elevation, she served as Vice President, People & Culture, where she played a key role in strengthening the company’s people strategy and organizational capability. Earlier, she held several senior legal leadership positions, including Assistant General Counsel, Franchise Operations, Senior Corporate Counsel, International Operations, and Senior Corporate Counsel, Employment, providing strategic counsel across employment law, franchise operations, and global business functions.
Before joining H&R Block, Charlene built a distinguished legal career specializing in labor and employment law. She served as Of Counsel at Fisher & Phillips, following associate roles at Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis LLP and DLA Piper, where she advised organizations on employment law, workplace compliance, and labor relations.
Her elevation reflects H&R Block’s confidence in her deep understanding of the organization, proven leadership, and ability to shape a people-first culture that supports innovation, transformation, and sustainable growth.
