Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India, May 2025 – Debanjan Ray has been named Chief Human Resources Officer at Khimji Jewellers, bringing with him over two decades of progressive leadership in human capital management, retail HR strategy, and organizational transformation. In this role, he will drive strategic HR initiatives across Khimji’s expanding retail footprint and play a pivotal role in enhancing employee experience and aligning people strategy with the company’s growth vision.
Prior to joining Khimji Jewellers, Debanjan served as Head – HR Retail Business at V-Mart Retail Ltd. for over three years, where he influenced people strategies across 500+ fashion and FMCG retail outlets nationwide. His leadership contributed to building a strong talent brand and positioning V-Mart as a preferred employer in the value fashion segment.
Earlier, he spent nearly eleven years at TPG Wholesale Private Limited (Vishal Megamart), leading HRBP and L&D functions for 500+ hypermarket stores and managing an employee base of over 11,000. His strategic interventions in workforce planning, talent development, and organizational learning significantly shaped the company’s growth trajectory.
Debanjan’s earlier assignments include serving as DGM – HR at Next Retail (Videocon Group), GM – HR at Woodland, and Head – HR at McDonald’s India (North & East), where he gained extensive experience in multi-location retail HR leadership. He began his career with Sahara India, managing talent acquisition and HR operations during a pivotal expansion phase for the organization.
