Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India July 2024 – Dr. Debabrata Dash has joined Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel India Ltd as Head of Human Resources (Eastern India), bringing more than two decades of experience in HR leadership and strategic management. In his new role, he will be accountable for HR and ER of all operating units and Projects spread across 04 States in Eastern India and will operate from Bhubaneswar.
Dr. Debabrata Dash most recently served as Group Vice President and CHRO at MSPL Limited, where he led digital transformation in HR, formulated strategic roadmaps for talent management, and spearheaded capability-building initiatives. His efforts included revamping HR and ER systems to enhance workforce experience and optimizing manpower through talent mobility schemes.
Prior to that, Dr. Dash was Head of the Human Resources Department at Tata Steel, where he managed HR functions for greenfield projects and Tata Steel Mining. He introduced project-focused HR policies, managed large-scale contractual workforce during project stages, and handled acquisitions, creating compensation structures and talent assessment frameworks.
At Tata Motors, as Head of Plant HR, he managed HR functions for the largest CVBU plant, implemented performance and reward systems, and led employee engagement initiatives. He also handled collective bargaining with unions and introduced innovation roadmaps for the organization.
Dr. Dash also held the position of AGM Human Resources at Jindal Stainless, where he introduced HR processes and systems, and Human Resources Development Manager at ITC Limited, where he championed talent management and implemented capability-building interventions.
In his early career, Dr. Dash served as Assistant Manager HR at National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) and Assistant Manager at Odisha Hydropower Corporation, handling HR and IR functions, grievance management systems, and workforce planning.
He completed his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from Odisha University of Technology and Research, PGDM from Xavier Institute of Management (XIM) Bhubaneswar, and PhD from Utkal University.
