Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, June 2026 – Edelweiss Asset Reconstruction Company Limited (EARC) has appointed Arun Mehta as its Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, following approval from the Reserve Bank of India for a five-year term. The appointment marks a significant leadership milestone for one of India’s leading asset reconstruction companies as it enters its next phase of growth and value creation.
Arun Mehta brings more than four decades of experience across banking, risk management, corporate finance, capital markets, structured finance, loan syndication, and financial services leadership. Widely regarded as one of the industry’s most accomplished banking professionals, he has held several senior leadership positions across India’s financial sector and has played a pivotal role in shaping financing and capital market strategies for leading institutions.
Prior to joining Edelweiss Asset Reconstruction Company, Arun served as an Independent Director on the boards of DSP Finance, Axis Trustee Services Limited, and IDBI Capital Markets Services Limited, where he contributed to governance, risk management, audit oversight, and strategic decision-making.
Earlier, he served as Managing Director of SBI Capital Markets, the investment banking subsidiary of State Bank of India. During his tenure, he led businesses spanning Project Advisory and Structured Finance, Loan Syndication, Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets, government disinvestment transactions, infrastructure financing, and resolution of stressed assets. Under his leadership, SBI Capital Markets strengthened its position as one of India’s leading investment banking and project advisory institutions.
Before SBI Capital Markets, Arun spent over three decades with State Bank of India in a variety of senior leadership positions across India and international markets. As Chief General Manager, he was responsible for financial control, budgeting, performance monitoring, asset-liability management, capital raising, investor relations, and strategic financial planning. He also led large corporate banking portfolios, chaired credit committees, and managed significant corporate lending operations.
His international experience includes serving in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for syndicated loans and investment activities, further strengthening his expertise in global banking and cross-border financing.
Throughout his distinguished career, Arun has developed deep expertise across corporate banking, international banking, structured finance, loan syndication, debt and equity capital markets, treasury management, risk oversight, and financial restructuring. His broad leadership experience across lending, capital markets, and financial governance positions him exceptionally well to lead one of India’s largest asset reconstruction platforms.
He succeeds the leadership team that helped establish Edelweiss ARC as a leading player in India’s distressed asset resolution ecosystem. Under its stewardship, the company achieved cumulative recoveries exceeding ₹66,210 crore over the past decade, while FY2025-26 recoveries reached ₹8,590 crore, representing a 50% year-on-year increase.
As Managing Director and CEO, Arun will lead the company’s next growth chapter, focusing on strengthening retail asset resolution capabilities, expanding recovery and restructuring platforms, enhancing operational efficiency, scaling fee-based business models, and driving sustainable value creation for stakeholders.
