SmartLynx Airlines, a name synonymous with rapid growth and innovation in the airline industry, proudly announces the appointment of Edvinas Demenius as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Demenius, who has previously shone in his role as a board member and Chief Commercial Officer for over seven years, steps into the shoes of Žygimantas Surintas to lead the airline into a future brimming with potential.
Under the auspices of the Avia Solutions Group, SmartLynx has carved a niche for itself as a leading passenger and cargo ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) provider. Jonas Janukėnas, CEO of Avia Solutions Group, expressed unwavering confidence in Demenius’ leadership abilities. He highlighted Demenius’ remarkable journey within the organization, navigating through the most challenging times in aviation history to emerge as a leader poised for success.
Demenius inherits a legacy of resilience and innovation, with SmartLynx achieving significant milestones in recent years. The airline has been proactive in expanding its fleet, particularly focusing on A321 freighters, a testament to its strategic vision in the cargo sector. From operating six A321 freighters in May last year, the fleet has grown to 10, with more additions on the horizon.
The airline’s growth trajectory is not limited to fleet expansion. In the past year alone, SmartLynx has increased its fleet from 49 to 67 aircraft, with ambitious plans to reach a 100-aircraft milestone by 2026. This expansion reflects the airline’s commitment to enhancing its operational capabilities and solidifying its position in the global ACMI market.
Demenius, reflecting on the journey ahead, emphasized the airline’s commitment to operational excellence and strategic growth. With a team capable of setting industry benchmarks, he expressed confidence in continuing the legacy of progress and innovation. The focus remains on driving growth through operational performance and expanding counter-seasonal operations, ensuring SmartLynx Airlines remains at the forefront of the aviation industry.
