Gaurav Jhala appointed as Vice President and CHRO at JSW Greentech Limited

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, July 2025 – Gaurav Jhala has taken on the role of Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at JSW Greentech Limited, where he will lead the HR agenda for one of India’s most ambitious ventures in sustainable commercial mobility. In this strategic leadership role, he will oversee end-to-end people strategy, including culture, talent, capability building, and organizational effectiveness for JSW’s electric mobility initiative.

Prior to this appointment, Gaurav Jhala spent over nine years at Tata Motors, where he held multiple leadership positions, including Head of HR for Engineering (R&D), Head of Talent Acquisition, and HR Head for Procurement & Corporate Functions. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in strengthening the company’s R&D capabilities and driving workforce transformation aligned with Tata’s EV and digital strategy.

Before Tata Motors, he worked with Amdocs as HR Partner for India & APAC, where he provided strategic HR support across geographies and helped elevate organizational capabilities through people-centric initiatives. His experience also includes a key stint at IBM, where he served as Senior Manager – HR Partner and led several large-scale HR programs focused on transformation, leadership development, and talent integration.

Earlier in his career, Gaurav held leadership roles at IDS Infotech and Aditya Birla Group, gaining broad-based exposure across HR strategy, operations, and administration. Across his 20+ years of experience, he has consistently delivered value through people-led growth and transformation agendas in both mature and growth-stage businesses.

Gaurav Jhala holds an MBA in Human Resources Management and Industrial Relations from Nagpur University, equipping him with a solid foundation in organizational development, employee relations, and strategic HR management.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
