Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, December 2024 – Gillian Smithies has joined Cohesity as Director, People Partner, bringing her extensive expertise in HR strategy, leadership development, and organizational transformation to the company. In her new role, Gillian will drive people-focused strategies to support Cohesity’s mission of securing and providing insights into the world’s data through innovative solutions.
Before joining Cohesity, Gillian spent nearly 8 years at Veritas Technologies LLC, serving as HR Business Partner Director. She collaborated with global leaders to design and execute talent strategies, including performance management, organizational culture transformation, and workforce planning for 1,400 employees worldwide.

Previously, Gillian held roles at Avaya, where she served as Senior HR Business Partner and HR Business Partner, driving people initiatives such as global sales transformation programs and talent retention strategies across the Americas, EMEA, and APJ regions.
Her earlier career includes HR leadership positions at Acision, Nortel Networks, and PGS Aberdeen, where she gained extensive experience in restructuring programs, employee relations, and workforce productivity initiatives.
With a career spanning over two decades, Gillian’s strategic expertise and leadership make her an invaluable addition to Cohesity as it continues to innovate and expand globally.
