Auckland, New Zealand, February 2026 — Jo Hempstead has started a new position as Chief Financial Officer at New Zealand Media & Entertainment (NZME), where she will lead the company’s financial strategy and operations as the organization continues to expand its multi-platform media presence across New Zealand.
In her new role, Jo Hempstead will oversee enterprise finance, performance management, and strategic planning to support NZME’s integrated portfolio of radio, digital, e-commerce, and print brands. Her appointment comes as NZME strengthens its focus on sustainable growth, data-driven decision-making, and operational excellence in a rapidly evolving media landscape.
Prior to joining NZME, Hempstead held senior finance leadership roles at The Warehouse Group for nearly nine years, most recently serving as General Manager – Finance, where she managed the end-to-end finance function for one of New Zealand’s largest retail groups. Earlier, she led corporate planning, commercial advisory, and brand finance initiatives across multiple business units. She also served as Director at ChocolateWorks NZ and previously held finance leadership roles at Warehouse Stationery Ltd, Microsoft, Pfizer, and The Economist, building a strong track record in financial strategy, transformation, and commercial performance.
