Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States, December 2024 – John Kruep has been appointed as Senior Director, People Operations at Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS). In his new role, John will oversee all people-related functions, driving organizational growth and fostering a culture that supports CFS’s ambitious mission to deliver clean fusion energy.
John brings a wealth of experience from his 25+ years in human resources leadership roles across various industries. Before joining CFS, John served as Chief People Officer for BPX Energy, a subsidiary of BP, for over a decade. In this role, he played a pivotal role in establishing BPX Energy’s HR organization, leading strategic initiatives such as headquarters relocation, diversity and inclusion programs, and the integration of multibillion-dollar acquisitions.
At BP, John also held the position of Human Resources Manager for Refining & Logistics Technology, where he led HR strategy for a global organization of 300 employees. During his tenure, he launched a people strategy committee and advanced talent management initiatives across the U.S.
Earlier in his career, John worked as HR Planning & Strategy Manager at Chevron, where he introduced process rigor and enhanced employee development programs. He also held various HR leadership roles at ExxonMobil, including U.S. Recruiting Manager, where he drove significant growth in nationwide hiring programs.
John holds an MBA from Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, further solidifying his expertise in strategic leadership and organizational development.
