Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, August 2024 — Kareen Nix has taken on the role of Director, People Strategy at the Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA). In this new position, Kareen will lead the development and execution of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the people function across the organization.
Prior to joining AFSA, Kareen served as Assistant Director, People Partner – People Strategy at AFSA for three months, where she played a crucial role in supporting strategic HR initiatives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the agency.
Before that, she was the Head of People and Culture at Strathfield Council for a year. In this role, she led HR operations and spearheaded employee engagement efforts, significantly impacting the overall organizational culture.
Earlier in her career, Kareen held the position of Deputy Director, People and Culture at the Federal Court of Australia for over a year. During her tenure, she managed comprehensive HR services, aligning the HR function with the court’s strategic goals and enhancing workforce planning and development.
Additionally, Kareen was the Assistant Director, People and Culture at the Federal Court of Australia for a year. In this role, she focused on streamlining HR processes and implementing effective employee relations strategies to support the court’s operations.
Kareen’s earlier experiences include various roles at Glen Ewin Estate as the Manager of Human Resources & Events, and she also served as the Human Resources Manager & Marketing Coordinator at Skoop Gelato Pty Ltd. Additionally, she held a managerial role at Gold Coast Turf Club Ltd. These positions provided her with a diverse background in HR management, event coordination, and marketing, contributing to her well-rounded expertise in the field.
