Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, May 2026 – Kushagra Kumar has been promoted to Managing Director at Axis Capital Ltd., marking a significant milestone in his investment banking career. In his expanded role, he will continue to lead the BFSI Investment Banking franchise, driving strategic advisory across private equity, IPOs, and M&A transactions.
Kushagra Kumar has been associated with Axis Capital Ltd. for over two years, most recently serving as Executive Director & Head of BFSI Coverage, where he played a key role in building a strong investment banking platform spanning deal sizes from mid-market transactions to billion-dollar mandates. His leadership has contributed to strengthening Axis Capital’s position across the full deal spectrum, including PE growth deals, IPOs, and mergers & acquisitions.
Prior to joining Axis Capital, he served as Director – Investment Banking at Avendus, where he advised clients on complex transactions and capital-raising strategies in the financial services space.
Earlier, he spent over eight years with EY, where he held roles including Director and Vice President – Transaction Advisory Services, advising corporates on M&A, fundraising, and restructuring initiatives while leading execution of large-scale deals.
He began his investment banking journey at JM Financial, where he was involved in public market transactions, private equity deals, and M&A advisory within the financial institutions group. He also gained early exposure through a summer role at Bank of America, working within the Corporate & Investment Banking division.
Kushagra Kumar holds an MBA in Finance, Economics, and Strategy from Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, one of India’s premier business schools.
