Mumbai, India, July 2026 — Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has announced a key leadership transition as Jan Bures, Executive Director – Sales & Marketing, prepares to take on a new role at Volkswagen AG in September following the successful completion of his tenure in India.
As part of the transition, Piyush Arora, Managing Director & CEO of Škoda Auto Volkswagen India, has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of Executive Director – Sales & Marketing. The enhanced leadership structure is designed to strengthen strategic alignment, accelerate decision-making, and enhance accountability as the company continues to expand its presence in the Indian automotive market.
Piyush Arora has been leading Škoda Auto Volkswagen India as Managing Director & CEO since March 2022, overseeing the Volkswagen Group’s operations in India and driving the company’s growth strategy across its portfolio of premium and luxury automotive brands.
Before joining SAVWIPL, he spent more than 26 years with Mercedes-Benz India Private Limited, where he held several senior leadership positions. His final assignment was as Executive Director, with responsibility spanning operations across India, Indonesia, and Vietnam, providing him with extensive experience in manufacturing, supply chain, business operations, and regional leadership.
Earlier in his career, Piyush built his operational foundation at Tata Motors Limited, where he progressed through roles including Graduate Engineering Trainee, Production Engineering Manager, and Supply Chain Manager, gaining valuable expertise in automotive manufacturing and operational excellence.
An alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur with a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering, Piyush also holds an International Business Diploma from Symbiosis Institute of International Business. His career reflects more than three decades of leadership across manufacturing, supply chain, operations, and strategic business management within the global automotive industry.
With his expanded responsibilities, Piyush will now oversee both the overall business strategy and the sales and marketing functions, ensuring greater integration between commercial execution and corporate strategy as Škoda Auto Volkswagen India continues to strengthen its market position.
