California, United States, July 2026 — Lyft has announced the appointment of Senthil Padmanabhan as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective July 20, 2026. Reporting directly to Chief Executive Officer David Risher, Senthil will lead Lyft’s technology strategy and engineering organisation as the company continues to leverage artificial intelligence to accelerate innovation and enhance experiences for riders and drivers.
A seasoned technology executive with decades of engineering leadership experience, Senthil is recognised for his ability to solve complex technical challenges while leading large-scale organisational transformation and building high-performing engineering teams.
Prior to joining Lyft, Senthil served as Vice President of Engineering at eBay, where he was previously recognised as a Technical Fellow. During his tenure, he led the scaling of eBay’s core engineering platform, applications and infrastructure, helping the company become the market leader in categories such as Parts & Accessories and Collectibles, while establishing eBay as one of the world’s fastest e-commerce platforms.
He also spearheaded a company-wide AI transformation that significantly enhanced customer experiences and engineering productivity, enabling ten times more deployments and six times more experimentation than was possible four years earlier.
At Lyft, Senthil will oversee the engineering foundations that power the company’s platform, with a particular focus on advancing AI-enabled innovation to accelerate product development, strengthen platform capabilities, and deliver better experiences for both riders and drivers.
Commenting on the appointment, Senthil Padmanabhan, Chief Technology Officer, Lyft, said:
“Lyft has a clear purpose, a product millions of people love and rely on every day, and a team that genuinely cares about getting it right. My job is to make sure the Lyft ceiling keeps rising – using technology to multiply what we can achieve and unlock what wasn’t possible before.”
Lyft noted that as artificial intelligence continues to reshape the technology landscape, the company is focused not merely on improving efficiency but on using AI to accelerate innovation and create entirely new experiences for its customers.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Senthil is an avid reader and self-described foodie who enjoys exploring new restaurants with his family. He and his wife are also longtime Lyft users and recommend scheduling airport rides in advance for a seamless travel experience.
