Dhaka, Bangladesh, June 2024 – Md. Monwar Hossain has joined The Westin Dhaka – Marriott International Inc. as the new Director of Human Resources. With a wealth of experience in HR management, he will be leading initiatives to enhance employee engagement, strategic HR planning, and organizational development.
Before joining The Westin Dhaka, Md. Monwar Hossain served as the Group General Manager – HR & Admin at DX Group for over two years. In this role, he managed general HR operations, developed HR policies, handled recruitment and selection, executed performance management, and oversaw compensation and benefits. He also planned and executed employee engagement programs and training and development initiatives. Notable achievements include reducing employee turnover, increasing productivity, and developing a performance management system.
Prior to his tenure at DX Group, he held the position of Head of Human Resources at The Westin Dhaka – Marriott International Inc. for over a year. He initiated and updated employee personal files, developed a work-from-home policy during COVID-19, and arranged several training and development sessions. He also developed and systematized SOPs for all service departments and strategically reduced costs.
Md. Monwar Hossain also worked as the Head of Human Resources at Radisson Blu Chattogram Bay View for three years. His achievements included reducing HR functional costs, forming an employee welfare fund, ensuring yearly mandatory training for all employees, and implementing succession plans for key positions. He also organized charity events, regional HR workshops, and various employee engagement programs.
Earlier in his career, he served as the Head of Human Resources at Royal Tulip Sea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa Ltd. for nearly a year. He managed HR operations, including recruitment, training and development, and employee CTC, despite the remote work location. He hired key positions timely, managed transportation for employees, and developed service charge benefits policies.
He also held the role of Head of Human Resources at DuSai Resort & Spa for almost three years. Here, he successfully recruited around 200 staff for pre-opening hotels, prepared handbooks, SOPs, job descriptions, and organograms for all employees, and was recognized as Manager of the Year for his successful management of HR operations.
