Mondelēz International appoints Abhiroop Chuckarbutty as President for South East Asia

Singapore, September 2025 — Mondelēz International has announced the appointment of Abhiroop Chuckarbutty as President for the South East Asian region. In this role, he will lead the company’s strategic growth, business operations, and regional expansion across one of the most dynamic markets for the global snacking leader.

Chuckarbutty brings over two decades of experience in the consumer goods industry, having held senior leadership roles across multiple geographies and categories.

Before joining Mondelēz International, he was President, Tea – Africa, Middle East & Turkey (AMET) at ekaterra, where he managed a €500 million tea business. He played a critical role in leading the separation from Unilever in 2022, establishing the new entity’s structure, IT systems, and operational model while ensuring sustainable business growth across manufacturing, marketing, and sales.

Earlier, he spent more than 16 years with Unilever, where he held various senior positions. As Vice President – Foods & Refreshment for MENA, he steered growth across diverse markets. Prior to this, as Director – Personal Care for the Gulf region, he managed five major categories including Skin Cleansing, Hair Care, Oral Care, Deodorants, and Skin Care, driving both profitability and market expansion. He also served as Global Brand Director for Lifebuoy, leading global brand communication and product innovation.

Chuckarbutty began his career at Unilever India as Area Sales and Customer Manager, where he developed a strong foundation in sales, customer development, and brand management before advancing to regional and global leadership roles.

He holds a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.
