In a significant development for Singapore’s art scene, Dr Eugene Tan has been appointed the Chief Executive Officer of National Gallery Singapore and Singapore Art Museum, starting from 1 April 2024. This new chapter begins as he takes over the reins from Ms Chong Siak Ching, who retires after a decade of distinguished service.
Dr Tan, previously serving as the Director for both prestigious institutions, is celebrated for his critical role in elevating Singapore’s stature within the global art community. His tenure as Director since 2013 (Gallery) and 2019 (SAM) has been marked by numerous achievements, including the curation of groundbreaking exhibitions and forging partnerships with world-renowned museums.
