Greater Toronto Area, Canada, May 2025 – Nelia Rutledge has stepped into the role of Vice President, People and Culture at Provident Energy Management, a recognized leader in energy services and sustainability solutions for multi-residential buildings. In her new role, Nelia will lead the company’s people and culture strategy, driving talent development, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness in alignment with Provident’s innovation-driven mission.

Prior to this, Nelia Rutledge was Vice President, People at Independence Pet Holdings, where she helped shape the company’s people-first culture across North America, supporting a family of brands that serve over a million insured pets. Her efforts strengthened talent strategies and reinforced an employee experience that matched the organization’s growth trajectory.

Before that, she served as Senior Vice President, Human Resources at Pethealth Inc., a Fairfax Company, where she led award-winning people and culture programs for 450+ employees across Canada, the U.S., and the UK. Under her leadership, the company received Gold at the Canadian HR Awards for Best Workplace Culture and launched several initiatives that improved retention, engagement, and internal mobility.

Earlier in her career, she held the role of Vice President of Human Resources at Coinamatic Canada Inc., overseeing HR for 300+ employees nationwide. She successfully led union negotiations, standardized policies, and implemented large-scale HRIS systems. Her leadership also extended to Ricoh Canada Inc., where she drove national HR strategies across a major technology company.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
