Kolkata, West Bengal, India, October 2025 — Opal Joseph has joined Sumosave Retail Ventures Pvt Ltd as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), where she will lead the company’s HR strategy and organizational culture transformation. Bringing more than two decades of experience across the retail and hospitality sectors, Opal’s appointment reflects Sumosave’s commitment to building a transparent, inclusive, and people-first organization.
In her new role, Opal will focus on integrating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) into leadership practices while driving cultural transformation across the company. Based in Kolkata, she will oversee key areas of talent management, organizational development, and HR innovation, ensuring that Sumosave’s growing workforce remains engaged, empowered, and aligned with the company’s vision to redefine modern retail for middle India.
Before joining Sumosave, Opal served as General Manager – Human Resources at RJ Corp Retail, where she successfully implemented HR technology solutions across India and international markets. Her initiatives fostered diversity, improved employee engagement, and elevated workplace culture.
Earlier, Opal spent over 17 years with Spencer’s Retail Ltd., where she held multiple leadership positions, including Head – Talent Acquisition and Chief Manager – Organisational Effectiveness. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in enhancing employee engagement, performance development, and leadership pipeline creation. She has also worked with Nature’s Basket Limited, ITC Hotels Limited, and Gulf Air, gaining deep insights into customer-centric leadership, operational excellence, and cross-cultural collaboration.
An alumna of XLRI Jamshedpur, where she earned her Post Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management, Opal is known for her passion for human capital transformation and her ability to build agile, inclusive, and future-ready organizations.
