Sidey, stepping into this pivotal role after a notable tenure as CEO of the Australian Communities Foundation (ACF), is set to bring a wealth of experience and a deep passion for social change and strategic philanthropy to PA.

With nine years of leadership at ACF, Australia’s sole nationally-focused community foundation, Sidey has been instrumental in evolving the foundation into a leading philanthropic service provider and a vocal proponent for social and environmental reforms. Her commitment to fostering a purpose-driven organizational culture has significantly contributed to the foundation’s success and its influential stance on pressing societal issues.

Amanda Miller OAM and Lisa George, Co-Chairs of Philanthropy Australia, expressed their enthusiasm for Sidey’s appointment, citing her remarkable achievements in building one of the country’s most esteemed giving communities. “Following an extensive search, we are delighted to have an outstanding and respected leader like Maree to lead PA. Maree’s track record of building one of Australia’s largest and most respected giving communities will help propel PA forward on its mission towards more and better philanthropy in Australia,” they stated.

Sidey’s extensive background in the For Purpose/Social Business sector, complemented by her roles in strategy, advocacy, communication, and transformative change, positions her uniquely to guide PA in its mission. Prior to her philanthropic endeavors, Sidey’s executive roles spanned several of Australia’s leading NGOs, enhancing her multifaceted view of the social impact landscape.

Upon accepting her new role, Sidey shared her anticipation for the opportunities that lie ahead with PA. “I am delighted to be joining the talented team at Philanthropy Australia. I have spent the past decade finding and inspiring generous Australians who want to make a difference with their giving, and this is a fantastic opportunity to build on that experience,” she remarked.

Sidey’s approach to philanthropy and her proven leadership skills are expected to fortify PA’s strategic objectives and its dedication to nurturing a vibrant philanthropic culture in Australia. With Sidey at the helm, PA looks forward to a period of enriched collaboration and innovation within the philanthropic community, aimed at making substantial and sustainable impacts.
