Ram Raghavan Promoted to Global Chief Marketing Officer at Colgate-Palmolive

New York, United States, May 2026 – Colgate-Palmolive has promoted Ram Raghavan to the position of Global Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), marking a significant milestone in a distinguished career spanning nearly three decades across India, China, Latin America, Canada, Asia Pacific, and North America. His elevation reflects the company’s confidence in his ability to lead global brand strategy and drive growth in an increasingly dynamic consumer landscape shaped by digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and evolving consumer expectations.

Raghavan assumes the role at a time when global marketers are balancing short-term business performance with long-term brand building, innovation, and customer engagement. His appointment also underscores a growing trend among multinational consumer goods companies to elevate leaders who possess deep experience across both emerging and developed markets, bringing diverse market perspectives to global leadership roles.

Prior to this appointment, Ram served as President – Enterprise Oral Care at Colgate-Palmolive, where he led one of the company’s most strategically important global businesses. In this role, he was responsible for driving growth, innovation, category expansion, and market leadership across the global oral care portfolio, reinforcing Colgate’s position as one of the world’s most trusted consumer brands.

Earlier, he served as Managing Director – Colgate-Palmolive India, leading the company’s operations in one of its most important growth markets. During his tenure, he focused on strengthening market leadership, accelerating innovation, expanding consumer reach, and driving business growth in a highly competitive FMCG environment.

Before returning to India, Ram held the role of Vice President Marketing – Asia Pacific, where he led marketing strategy across multiple countries and diverse consumer markets. He was responsible for driving brand growth, consumer engagement, product innovation, and portfolio development across the region, helping strengthen Colgate’s market presence throughout Asia Pacific.

His international leadership experience also includes serving as General Manager – Latin America Category Innovation Center in Mexico, where he led category innovation and product development initiatives for one of Colgate-Palmolive’s most important regions. Prior to that, he served as Marketing Director – Colgate-Palmolive China, overseeing brand strategy and market development in one of the world’s largest consumer markets.

Ram’s earlier career includes several progressive leadership assignments within Colgate-Palmolive, including Vice President Marketing – Colgate-Palmolive Canada, Associate Marketing Director – Toothpaste (China), Associate Marketing Director – Toothbrushes (China), Senior Brand Manager – Asia Pacific Division, Senior Brand Manager – Colgate-Palmolive India, Brand Manager, Associate District Manager, and Management Trainee. This progression through diverse geographies and business functions has given him a unique understanding of consumers, markets, innovation, and brand building across the globe.

Reflecting on his journey in a previous interview, Raghavan highlighted Colgate-Palmolive’s distinctive approach to career development. Rather than viewing careers as a traditional corporate ladder, he described the organization’s philosophy as a “honeycomb,” where employees are encouraged to explore diverse experiences and growth opportunities across functions, geographies, and business units.

Ram holds an Executive Leadership MBA Program qualification from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies. His academic credentials, combined with extensive international leadership experience, have helped shape a career defined by innovation, strategic growth, and brand leadership.
