Ravindra Kumar has been appointed as the Director (Operations) of NTPC Limited, a pivotal position within one of India’s leading Maharatna PSUs in the energy sector. His tenure is set until his superannuation on October 31, 2027. Kumar, who was serving as the Executive Director at NTPC Ltd., will succeed Ramesh Babu V, the former CMD who retired on January 31, 2024. The selection was finalized by the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet following a comprehensive recommendation process by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on October 30, 2023.
In his new role, Kumar is tasked with the operational oversight of NTPC’s vast network of power stations, ensuring their efficient and reliable operation. His responsibilities will encompass maintaining high standards for power generation and supply, spearheading modernization and technological advancements, and addressing operational challenges to enhance productivity and performance.
Ravindra Kumar was chosen from a list of 11 candidates, all from within NTPC, highlighting the internal talent pool’s strength and the rigorous selection process that underscores the importance of this executive position. His prior experience as CEO of NTPC’s Patratu Thermal Power Station in Jharkhand has prepared him for the challenges and responsibilities of the Director (Operations) role at NTPC Limited, ensuring a smooth transition and continued operational excellence.
