Jacksonville, Florida, United States, March 2026 — Riz Chand has begun his new role as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at CSX Corp, marking his first day leading the people strategy of one of North America’s premier freight rail organizations.
In his new role at CSX, Riz will oversee enterprise-wide human resources strategy, talent management, leadership development, labor relations, organizational design, and workforce planning across the company’s 21,000-mile transportation network. His appointment reflects CSX’s continued commitment to operational excellence powered by a high-performing and engaged workforce.
Riz brings more than three decades of global HR leadership experience across transportation, private equity, manufacturing, energy, healthcare, and consumer sectors. Most recently, he served as Chief Talent Officer & Operating Partner at AEA Investors LP, where he partnered with portfolio company leadership teams to drive executive talent strategy, succession planning, and value creation initiatives across middle-market investments.
Earlier, he served as Chief HR Officer at BNSF Railway, owned by Berkshire Hathaway, where he led HR strategy for one of the largest railroad networks in North America. His leadership spanned labor relations, workforce transformation, leadership capability, and organizational effectiveness in a highly operational environment.
Throughout his career, Riz has also held senior executive HR roles at Energy Future Holdings Corp, Kennametal Inc, Aetna International, and Mary Kay, Inc., along with earlier experience at PepsiCo and Hay Group. In addition to executive leadership, he has served on the boards of Window Nation, Blackmon Mooring & BMS CAT, and Jack’s Family Restaurants, LP, further strengthening his governance and strategic advisory credentials.
With extensive experience leading HR in complex, asset-intensive and multi-state operations, Riz Chand’s appointment positions CSX Corp to continue advancing its performance standards through people-centered leadership.
