Amsterdam, Netherlands, May 2026 – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, announced that its shareholders have approved the re-appointment of Roy Jakobs as President/CEO and Chairman and member of the Board of Management, effective May 8, 2026.
Reflecting on the renewed mandate, Roy Jakobs shared that leading Philips is a responsibility he carries with great care, emphasizing the opportunity to build on the company’s 130+ year legacy of improving lives through innovation. He also acknowledged the contribution of Team Philips in strengthening the company, delivering on commitments, and driving innovation amid a rapidly evolving global environment.
Under Roy’s leadership, Philips has continued focusing on health technology transformation, connected care innovation, operational resilience, and long-term value creation while advancing its mission of improving lives through meaningful healthcare innovation.
Roy Jakobs has built an extensive global leadership career spanning healthcare technology, consumer products, publishing, and energy sectors. Since becoming CEO of Philips in October 2022, he has led the company’s strategic transformation as a focused health technology leader, driving innovation across connected care, patient monitoring, diagnostics, and personalized healthcare solutions.
Prior to assuming the CEO role, Roy served as Chief Business Leader – Connected Care, where he led Philips’ connected care businesses, including hospital patient monitoring, ambulatory diagnostics, sleep and respiratory care, emergency care, and clinical data services. Earlier, he was Chief Business Leader – Personal Health, overseeing multiple global consumer and health-focused businesses.
His earlier leadership journey at Philips included serving as Business Leader – Domestic Appliances based in Shanghai and as Regional Leader for the Middle East and Turkey, where he managed operations across healthcare, lighting, and consumer lifestyle businesses throughout the region. He also served as Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Strategy Officer for Philips Lighting, leading marketing, strategy, M&A, and business development initiatives globally.
Before joining Philips, Roy spent over five years with Elsevier in strategic leadership roles, including Managing Director – Academic & Government Markets and Strategy Director – Science & Technology Division, where he focused on information solutions, strategic planning, and business development.
Earlier in his career, he spent more than seven years with Shell across multiple international commercial and retail leadership roles in the Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, and Luxembourg, managing retail operations, fuel networks, pricing strategy, and business growth initiatives.
Roy Jakobs holds an MBA in Business Administration from Radboud University.
