Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, August 2024 – Sanjay Singal has taken on the role of Chief Executive Officer at Wagh Bakri Tea Group. In his new position, Singal will spearhead the company’s strategic direction, operational excellence, and expansion efforts as one of India’s leading tea brands continues to grow its presence both domestically and internationally.

Sanjay Singal brings a wealth of experience from the FMCG sector, having held pivotal roles across leading organizations. Before joining Wagh Bakri, he served as Chief Operating Officer at ITC Limited from July 2016 to July 2024, where he was responsible for driving growth in the Dairy and Beverages business. His leadership significantly contributed to the brand’s market expansion and operational success.

Prior to ITC, Singal held senior roles at Dabur India Limited for nearly six years, including Marketing Head – Foods, where he managed brands like Real, Hajmola, and Honey, driving them to become leaders in their respective markets. His tenure saw the Foods business grow rapidly, gaining market share and becoming the fastest-growing segment within Dabur.

Earlier in his career, Singal was the Chief Marketing Officer at Aditya Birla Group and GE Capital, where he led marketing strategies that bolstered brand equity and consumer trust. His journey in the industry began at Unilever, where he managed regional and national marketing operations, contributing to the growth of iconic brands such as Dove and Fair & Lovely.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
