Sarvesh Kumar Appointed as Executive Director at Indian Oil Corp Limited

Faridabad, Haryana, India, February 2026 — Sarvesh Kumar has started a new position as Executive Director at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IndianOil). A long-tenured leader with over three decades of experience at IndianOil, Sarvesh’s elevation reflects his deep expertise in refining technology, hydroprocessing, technology commercialization, and R&D leadership—particularly in areas shaping the future of sustainable and renewable energy.

In January 2026, Sarvesh Kumar was appointed Executive Director at Indian Oil Corp Limited, based in Faridabad, Haryana. This new leadership responsibility comes after a sustained and impactful career in IndianOil’s R&D ecosystem, where he has contributed significantly to technology development, fuel quality advancement, and next-generation energy innovation.

Immediately prior to this appointment, he served as Chief General Manager at Indian Oil R&D Centre for about four years, spearheading the Refining Technology domain with key focus on renewable energy and bio-energy projects. During this tenure, he led catalyst research and profitability maximization initiatives, strengthened the R&D centre’s analytical capabilities, and worked across multiple divisions to improve project efficiency and effectiveness. He also contributed to the Business Development Committee for IndianOil’s joint venture with TOTAL, with emphasis on innovative bitumen solutions.

Before that, Sarvesh spent about four years as General Manager, heading multiple departments in the Refining Technology function at IndianOil R&D Centre. His leadership supported “need of the hour” technologies including fuel quality upgradation, GRM improvement, and development of niche products such as Avgas and refinery fuels. He also served as a Project Appraisal Group (PAG) member, evaluating high-value R&D projects for approval at the DIR (R&D) level.

Earlier, he worked as Deputy General Manager for about four years, where he spearheaded development and commercialization of multiple technologies in the hydroprocessing domain. He also initiated futuristic projects aligned to the circular economy and biofuels, reinforcing IndianOil’s future energy transition roadmap.

His R&D leadership deepened further during his tenure as Chief Research Manager, where he led the Hydroprocessing domain at IndianOil R&D with a focus on fuel quality upgradation aligned to BS VI specifications. Notably, he developed a pioneering process for Green diesel production using non-edible oil as feedstock, successfully demonstrated at CPCL, and collaborated extensively across functions for technology deployment and sustainability improvements in fuel production.

Prior to this, he served as Research Manager, leading teams responsible for development and deployment of gasoline and kerosene desulfurization technologies, and earlier as Deputy Research Manager, where he played a pivotal role in developing and deploying innovative LPG treatment technology (CFC)—contributing to successful implementation across multiple Indian refineries and earning recognition through awards.

In earlier years, Sarvesh worked as Senior Chemical Engineer, playing a major role in developing and deploying the first indigenous Hydroprocessing Technology for food and polymer grade Hexane production. He began his IndianOil journey as Chemical Engineer, as part of the team that helped establish India’s first Hydroprocessing lab at IndianOil R&D—laying the foundation for decades of innovation-led contributions.
