Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, June 2026 — Cipla has elevated Saurabh Gambhir to the position of Chief Strategy Officer (Global), recognizing his significant contributions to the company’s strategic growth, business transformation, mergers and acquisitions, and digital initiatives across global markets.
In his new role, Gambhir will lead Cipla’s global strategy agenda, focusing on long-term growth, portfolio expansion, strategic investments, business transformation, digital acceleration, and value creation across the company’s international operations. His elevation reflects Cipla’s confidence in his ability to help shape the next phase of the organization’s growth journey in an increasingly dynamic global healthcare environment.
Gambhir has been associated with Cipla since 2022 and has held a series of progressively senior leadership roles. Prior to his current appointment, he served as Head – Strategy and M&A (Global) and earlier as Head – Strategy, M&A and Digital – One India Business, where he played a pivotal role in driving enterprise-wide strategic initiatives, business portfolio optimization, inorganic growth opportunities, digital transformation programs, and commercial excellence projects.
Before joining Cipla, Gambhir served as Senior Director – Marketing and Portfolio Strategy at Emcure Pharmaceuticals Limited, where he was responsible for portfolio development and strategic marketing initiatives. Earlier, he spent seven years at Intas Pharmaceuticals, holding leadership positions including General Manager – Sales & Marketing (Nephrology) and General Manager – Business Strategy. During this period, he led business growth initiatives, portfolio optimization programs, market access strategies, commercial excellence projects, and strategic planning efforts across key therapeutic segments.
Prior to Intas, Gambhir worked with IMS Health (now IQVIA), where he held the positions of Senior Manager – Strategy & Business Development and Manager – Strategy & Business Development. In these roles, he supported corporate growth initiatives, healthcare consulting assignments, transaction advisory projects, market entry strategies, and partnership development programs across the healthcare ecosystem.
Earlier in his career, he served as Manager – Strategy & Business Development at Wanbury Limited, where he was involved in strategic transactions, business restructuring initiatives, divestments, mergers and acquisitions, financial modelling, and organizational transformation projects. He began his professional journey with Tata Consultancy Services as an Assistant System Engineer, working on technology solutions for the banking and financial services sector.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, where he earned his MBA in Finance and Strategy, Gambhir brings nearly two decades of experience spanning corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, portfolio management, healthcare consulting, commercial operations, business development, and digital transformation.
His elevation to Chief Strategy Officer (Global) comes at a time when Cipla continues to strengthen its position as a leading global pharmaceutical company with a growing presence across developed and emerging markets.
