Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, December 2024 – Shannon Roma has taken on the role of Chief People and Culture Officer at Yarra Trams, the world’s largest operating tram network. In her new role, Shannon will lead Yarra Trams’ efforts in fostering a positive workplace culture, enhancing employee engagement, and aligning HR strategies with the organization’s operational goals. Her extensive expertise in human resources and leadership will be pivotal in driving sustainable and impactful change across the organization.
Before joining Yarra Trams, Shannon held the role of Executive Director, People and Capability at Rail Projects Victoria, where she spearheaded transformative HR strategies for 1 year. Prior to that, she served as Director, People and Inclusion at the same organization, driving diversity and inclusion initiatives for over a year.
Her tenure at Cross River Rail as Head of People and Performance for 2 years highlighted her ability to manage large-scale workforce planning and performance optimization for a critical infrastructure project.
Shannon also dedicated nearly 5 years to Pacific National, where she served as Head of HR for Coal and Head of HR for Queensland, overseeing HR strategy and operations to support one of Australia’s leading freight rail businesses.
Earlier in her career, Shannon held various HR roles at John Holland and Australian Industry Group, where she honed her skills in employee relations, workplace policies, and strategic HR management.
