Shelley Schamach Appointed as Chief People Officer at Material

Los Angeles, California, United States, May 2025 — Shelley Schamach has been elevated to the role of Chief People Officer at Material, marking a significant milestone in her dynamic career dedicated to transforming workplace culture and advancing people-centric strategies. Shelley takes on this new role after successfully serving in various senior leadership positions within the organization, including Senior Vice President, Talent and Vice President, Talent Business Partner, where she demonstrated a strong ability to lead transformational change and drive organizational success.

Over the past four years at Material, Shelley has been a key contributor to strengthening the company’s talent strategy, employee engagement, and leadership development initiatives. She has played a pivotal role in fostering team effectiveness and advancing the company’s values-driven culture through strategic human capital programs and coaching.

Before joining Material, Shelley held impactful human resources leadership roles at several renowned companies, including Equator Coffees, where she served as Head of People, and Athleta, where she progressed from Senior Human Resources Manager to Director of Human Resources. Earlier in her career, she spent over nine years at Starbucks in a variety of roles, including Regional Human Resources Manager, Learning Business Partner, and District Manager, leading HR and operational excellence across regions. She also held district management roles at Hot Topic and Juxtapose/Anchor Blue, where she built foundational expertise in talent management and retail leadership.

As Chief People Officer at Material, Shelley will now spearhead the company’s global people strategy, driving initiatives aimed at cultivating a high-performance culture, advancing leadership capabilities, and aligning talent strategies with the company’s ambitious growth plans.
