Johannesburg, South Africa, May 2024 – Sonwabo Maholwana has been appointed as the Head of Human Capital for African Bank’s Business Banking Division. With extensive experience in human resources and organizational development across various industries, Sonwabo brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to his new role.
Sonwabo’s most recent role was at Novartis as Head of People and Organisation (P&O) in South Africa, where he was responsible for leading the human resources function, focusing on organizational development, talent management, and employee engagement.
Before that, he served as the Human Resources Director at Boehringer Ingelheim in Johannesburg, where he led HR strategies and initiatives, fostering a high-performance culture and enhancing employee experience.
At Givaudan, Sonwabo was the Human Resources Director Africa, where he managed HR operations across the African continent, driving talent acquisition, employee relations, and strategic HR planning.
Earlier in his career, Sonwabo held the position of Human Resources Manager at Jaguar Land Rover Africa, where he was instrumental in implementing HR policies and practices, enhancing employee satisfaction and organizational effectiveness.
