In this strategic leadership role, Sophie will spearhead the company’s people strategy — driving employee engagement, talent development, and organizational culture as General Index continues to scale its global operations and strengthen its position as a next-generation benchmark data provider.
Before joining General Index, Sophie spent over six years at OpenPayd, a London-based embedded finance platform, where she progressed through several HR leadership roles. Most recently serving as Senior People Partner, she played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s talent framework, enhancing employee experience, and partnering with leadership to build scalable people practices aligned with business growth. Her earlier roles as People Partner and People Advisor at OpenPayd further honed her expertise in workforce planning, policy design, and employee engagement across a fast-growing fintech ecosystem.
Prior to her tenure at OpenPayd, Sophie worked at Zopa Bank, one of the UK’s first digital banks, where she served as HR Advisor and HR Administrator. At Zopa, she supported the company’s transformation during a period of rapid expansion, implementing HR processes, developing onboarding frameworks, and supporting leadership through cultural change initiatives.
Earlier in her career, she was HR People Coordinator at Catch22, a social business and charity organization focused on social impact and community development. In this role, she managed HR coordination across multiple programs, ensuring compliance and supporting employee well-being across the organization.
Sophie began her professional journey as a Recruiter at TimePlan Education Group Limited, followed by a role as Contractor Specialist at Focused, gaining early exposure to talent acquisition, workforce management, and client servicing — skills that would later become foundational to her HR leadership journey.
