Mountain View, California, United States, September 2025 – Confluent, the data streaming pioneer, has appointed Stephen Deasy as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In this strategic role, Stephen will lead the company’s global engineering organization, guiding its vision, strategy, and execution as Confluent expands its platform capabilities to deliver real-time intelligence and AI-powered applications at global scale.
As CTO, Stephen will focus on strengthening Confluent’s core infrastructure and enabling more organizations to easily build and deploy real-time use cases—such as agentic AI, hyper-personalized customer experiences, and automated operations—through a world-class streaming data platform.

Stephen brings over 20 years of engineering leadership experience from high-growth software companies. Most recently, he served as CTO at Benchling, where he led global product and platform teams. Prior to that, he directed engineering for Jira, Confluence, Trello, and Atlassian’s cloud platform. He has also held leadership roles at VMware, EMC, and Groupon. A passionate technologist and innovator, Stephen holds multiple patents and actively invests in early-stage technology ventures.
